I essentially People out, stock items that people needed help with light, like food, toys, anything like that. So essentially I did everything like that, but mostly cash people out.Interviewer: What was the work environment like?Dollar Tree Cashier: It was actually pretty good, I had a really fun boss. Although she was kind of a stickler about the scheduling and stuff, you cant call off that often or it would be an issue. But other than that, it was pretty fun to work with, pretty laid back, no one got lightheaded or anything, so it was pretty good.Interviewer: How would you describe the application and interview process?Dollar Tree Cashier: It wasnt too bad. I just went for an application and filled it out, with typical application questions: name, previous experience, why you would want the job, things like that. The interview, I pretty much had on the phone, and it was essentially why you would be good for this job, are you in school, are you good with people, can you lift things, pretty straightforward stuff. When I went in, they asked why you would be a good fit for this job, how could you make the workplace better, things like that.Interviewer: What questions did the interviewer ask during the job interview?Dollar Tree Cashier: If you are a felon, past jobs, past experience, if you had any experience in retail, could you work a cash register, stuff like that. Depending on the position you are applying for cashier and mean, that was basically it. They put a big emphasis on past experience.Interviewer: What set you apart from other candidates?Dollar Tree Cashier: Probably because of my schedule, because I think I was the most free. I did a couple of extra-curricular activities, but it didnt really take up too much time. I could work five days a week and not have a problem with it, I never had to call off and that was my first job as a cashier. I didnt have a lot of past experience, but the fact that I could talk to people and associate with people well, and my schedule was pretty free.Interviewer: What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking to gain employment?Dollar Tree Cashier: Id tell them always definitely be friendly. Your boss can see when youre having a bad day, and so can the customers, so they would say something about it. So when youre applying, definitely make sure that youre a people person, that you can talk to people, and obviously past experience doesnt hurt anything. I was actually surprised I got it, because I didnt have past experience, but definitely have an open schedule and be friendly.
